Using peak analysis for identifying lagged effects between software metrics

چکیده
Measures extracted from software repositories tend to be collected on a regular basis (often daily), forming time series of data. In this context, it is normal to assume that some of the measures collected are having an effect on other measures, potentially with some delay (or “lag”) in the effect. Such delay in the effect may even vary over time, making the identification of the effect difficult. In this paper, we present our initial ideas on a simple analysis method for such situation, in which peaks from the two time series in question are analyzed, and similar ones are

Patient Flow Analysis in General Hospitals: How Clinical Disciplines Affect Outpatient Wait Times
Background: Overcrowding is an important problem for outpatient services in healthcare facilities. Patient flow analysis (PFA) is a useful method for identifying inefficiencies in and facilitating patient flow. Objective: PFA was used to estimate patient wait time and determine how different clinical disciplines impact wait times in the studied hospital.<...
متن کاملIdentifying Effective Software Metrics Using Genetic Algorithms
Various software metrics may be used to quantify object-oriented source code characteristics in order to assess the quality of the software. This type of software quality assessment may be viewed as a problem of classification: given a set of objects with known features (software metrics) and group labels (quality rankings), design a classifier that can predict the quality rankings of new objec...
متن کاملAnalyzing Theoretical Basis and Inconsistencies of Object Oriented Metrics
Metrics help in identifying potential problem areas and finding these problems in the phase they are developed decreases the cost and avoids major ripple effects from these in later development stages. These days, Object Oriented Paradigm is mainly used for all practical purposes, hence accessing Object Oriented Systems is a major research area in Software Engineering. As proved by researchers ...
متن کاملThe Effects of Increasing Running Speed on Three-Dimensional Peak Angle of the Lower Limb Joints in Stance Phase
Objective: Attention can be paid to the biomechanical characteristics of running since the speed of running varies. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of increasing running speed on the three-dimensional kinematics of the lower limb’ joints in the stance phase. Methods: The research was quasi-experimental. 27 volunteer subjects ran on a treadmill and the kinematic and ...
متن کاملCase Study of a Method for Reengineering Procedural Systems into OO Systems
This study evaluates a method for reengineering a procedural system to an object-oriented system. Relationships between functions in the procedural system were identified using various coupling metrics. While the coupling metrics used for analysis were helpful in identifying candidate objects, domain expert analysis of the candidate objects was required. The time taken at each step in the proce...
